Beyonce And Jay-Z Have Baby Girl Named Ivy Blue Carter

Beyonce, Jay-Z Have Baby Girl Named Ivy Blue Carter

Congratulations to Beyoncé and Jay-Z, the new proud parents of their baby girl, Ivy Blue Carter. After renting out an entire floor of the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City on Friday (for $1.3 million), Queen B gave birth Saturday January 7 by way of C Section. According to the Houston Chronicle, “Beyoncé has given birth to a girl early this evening in New York, says a close source. Baby and mom are doing fine.”

There has been a media frenzy surrounding Jayonce ever since the “Dance For You” singer revealed that she was pregnant to the world at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. But, I hope the happy couple gets some much needed space during this exciting time. Congratulations to the new parents!

Stay tuned for updates.

What do you think of the baby’s name? Let me know on Twitter and/or post a comment in the box below.

Ivy could mean IV, as in the roman numeral for the number 4. Four, aside from being the name of B’s fourth album, is the day of the month that both Jay-Z and Beyoncé were born (December 4th and September 4th respectively). It is also rumored to be Beyoncé’s favorite number.

“Blue” could refer to Jay-Z’s The Blueprint albums, or an upcoming Blueprint 4, or one of several other theories being tossed around at the moment…

UPDATE: The baby’s name may, in fact, be Blue Ivy Carter and not Ivy Blue Carter…

UPDATE: Wild rumors regarding the meaning of their baby’s name.

I have heard that some people believe that Blue stands for, “Born Living Under Evil” and that Ivy is an acronym for Illuminati’s Very youngest. Also, there is a rumor that Blue Ivy spelled backwards, “Eulb Ivy”,  is Latin for “Lucifer’s daughter”. A quick search on an online Latin dictionary proves that false, and there is also not much evidence that Lucifer or any angel, had or was even capable of having offspring. I think people are really reaching with these claims…

For more information, see the Examiner article on the matter, which goes into biblical detail.

UPDATE: Beyonce and Jay-Z released the following statement

UPDATE: Lenox Hill Hospital Releases Statement Regarding Birth Of Blue Ivy

Lenox Hill Hospital and its staff were delighted to welcome the Carter family for the birth of their firstborn on Saturday evening, but we are troubled by the misinformation being circulated in some news media reports. The suggestion that the couple paid $1.3 million to rent an entire maternity floor is simply not true. The family is housed in an executive suite at the hospital and is being billed the standard rate for those accommodations. Our executive suites are available for any patient, including the food service and amenities provided to the Carter family.

“The family does have its own security detail on site. However, the hospital has been and continues to be in control of managing all security at the facility. We have made every effort to ensure minimal disruption to other families experiencing the births of their own children over the past three days. No security plan that we or the Carters’ security team put in place would have prevented or delayed families from gaining access to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and to date, no families have complained to the hospital about being denied access to the NICU.

“Lenox Hill Hospital takes patient privacy and safety very seriously. And while we congratulate the Carter family on the birth of their child, we value the loyalty of ALL of our patients and always strive to ensure a positive experience, knowing that the birth of a child is a wonderful moment producing memories that last a lifetime”
